FAQ

01

Do you take insurance?

As a certified postpartum doula,  I hold the credentials needs for clients to be reimbursed through their fertility benefits (like Carrot) or their health insurance if it includes benefits for doulas. I provide copies of our contract and invoices for clients to submit to their insurance.

02

what type of training do you have?

I trained with internationally recognized CAPPA doula training and I am certified through the Northwest Association of Perinatal Support (NAPS). I maintain active CPR certification, liability insurance and a clean WA state background check as a part of my certification. I also participate in regular continuing education classes to broaden and deepen my knowledge on all things baby and postpartum. Classes include: Postpartum nutrition, baby wearing,  postpartum mood disorders, and lactation/pumping.

03

I know overnight doulas help parents get more sleep, what does a day doula do?

My focus as a day doula is parent mentorship. With so many of us living far from family, without a support system, without much experience with babies, my role is that of a non-judgmental, knowledgeable "auntie" so walks alongside parents as they grow into their new role.

04

Do doulas replace medical providers?

A postpartum doula does not provide medical care or medical advice. Instead, my role is to support the family’s transition after birth by assisting with recovery, newborn care, and emotional support, while referring families to appropriate medical professionals when medical questions or concerns arise.

05

Do you offer overnight care?

Yes, I offer occasional postpartum overnight care on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out to discuss your needs, and I will check whether my availability aligns with the support you’re looking for.

06

Will you take over caring for my baby?

My role is to guide, support, and encourage you—not replace you. I’ll teach soothing, feeding, and care techniques so you feel confident and capable as your baby’s parent.

07

What if I’m formula feeding or using a mix of feeding methods?

I support all feeding choices with compassion. Whether you’re breastfeeding, pumping, formula feeding, or combining methods, I’ll help you find what works best for your family.

08

Can you help with household tasks?

Yes—light tidying, meal/snack prep, laundry for baby, and small organizational tasks are included. This practical support helps create a calmer environment for your recovery.

09

How do I decide how much care I need?

The amount of support you need depends on a few factors, such as your recovery, your comfort with newborn care, the household help you would like, and the support network you have around you. If you're unsure, we can talk through your needs and decide what level of support would feel most helpful for your family.
